About Our School

Hurffville Elementary School was built in 1957 and currently serves over 500 students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Our School Mascot is Hero, the Husky.

Hurffville provides a challenging and comprehensive educational program to a diverse student population. The students' needs are met through the use of current, research-based teaching methods and strategies and the integration of technology.

Academic Achievement – Student achievement is evaluated through the use of multiple measures. These include student portfolios, performance assessments, criterion-referenced tests, and the NJ Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA). Improved student performance on the state assessments continues to be an annual goal.

Participation and Recognition – The staff at Hurffville encourages participation in a wide range of activities. Our fifth-grade students present the daily, school-wide morning opening exercises. Students may also choose from activities such as Safety Patrol, Strategic Games, STEM, and Drama clubs. Students can also participate in the vocal or instrumental music programs. All students display artwork in the annual school-wide Art Show. Students are recognized for displaying positive character traits through our Hurffville PBIS Program and HERO expectations: Have respect, Encourage kindness, Responsible & accountable, Our school is safe!

High Quality Staff – The professional staff at Hurffville School continually refine and update their teaching skills through participation in professional development programs and graduate course work. Our teachers are dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable, creating an exemplary educational experience for all of our students. They can be seen at events beyond the school, supporting our learners at various Parent Teacher Organization events. Our teachers also work collaboratively to fund a yearly scholarship for a deserving Hurffville alum!

Parent and Community Involvement – Parent involvement is greatly encouraged through participation in classroom activities. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports the learners through the Book Fair, Haunted Hallway, Cookies with Santa, Designer Bag Bingo, Ice Cream Social, and so much more!  The ongoing support and cooperation of the parents, community members, and the school staff create a nurturing learning environment, which prepares the students to become successful, productive members of society.
